Why Locals Love Mandarin House
Mandarin House, located conveniently in the KFC Same Plaza on 1118 W Mission Blvd F in Ontario, CA, offers an authentic Asian fusion dining experience centered around Chinese cuisine. This unassuming spot, favored by locals for years, delivers outstanding flavors that truly resonate with fans of traditional and contemporary Asian dishes.
Stepping inside Mandarin House, the atmosphere may seem modest with its simple setup and familiar, well-worn tables, but it’s the food that steals the show. Here, the kitchen crafts each dish with care, giving you generous portions that satisfy both appetite and wallet. Whether you prefer to dine in or grab a delicious takeaway, Mandarin House serves up freshness in every bite.
Start your meal with the crackling Egg Rolls, featuring a vegetarian savory filling wrapped in thin, perfectly fried wrappers that snap delightfully with each bite. For something heartier, the Ten Pieces Crispy Chicken Wontons offer a warm, golden crunch outside with a tender, flavorful filling inside—a perfect pairing with one of their expertly prepared soups.
The Hot and Sour Soup is a standout, boasting a robust vegetable stock enriched with mixed vegetables and silky egg drop, served alongside crispy noodles that add both texture and comfort. Fans of milder options will appreciate the Egg Flower Soup, equally comforting and beautifully balanced. For a refreshing twist, try the Japanese-inspired Seaweed Salad or the creamy, zestful Avocado Salad tossed in a special house sauce, offering an exemplary blend of freshness and complexity.
Signature entrees like the walnut chicken and sweet, tangy shrimp capture the essence of classic Chinese flavors elevated by skillful preparation. Portion sizes here are incredibly generous, often enough to share, which makes it ideal for families or groups craving variety without compromise. Each dish arrives with fluffy white rice and crunchy noodle snacks. Plus, thoughtful touches such as complimentary Sriracha and disposable utensils enhance convenience and flavor.
Customers consistently praise Mandarin House’s quality and value, noting that despite its humble appearance, it is a gem of fresh and delicious dishes. Longtime patrons highlight how the flavors remain consistent and satisfying through years, with many choosing it for delivery and takeout when craving authentic Chinese comfort food. The staff’s friendly demeanor and accommodating service create a warm, inviting experience whether you’re dining in or picking up your order.
While one customer lamented a temporary closure, the overwhelming majority affirm Mandarin House as a cornerstone for Chinese cuisine in Ontario, especially for those seeking the bold, genuine tastes outside the bigger metropolitan areas. If you’re after a reliable spot serving crave-worthy orange chicken, garlic broccoli, or spicy hot and sour soup, Mandarin House remains a beloved local treasure.

Lunch special are $7-$9 and they are good portions. The food is really good and the staff was friendly. They allow dine-in so that is a plus.

Been eating here for years. Fresh, delicious, and inexpensive Chinese food. Doesn't look like much from the outside and the dining in experience is okay, they cater more for takeout and delivery. Five stars for the quality and value.

Incredible. Best Chinese food I have ever had. I ordered through Uber Eats but it was phenomenal. I got hot and sour soup and it was super spicy like I requested and delicious, as well as garlic broccoli. It was so yummy!!

It’s CLOSED! I was craving their orange chicken, It’s very hard to find a great authentic Chinese food place outside of LA. We have.been coming here for 10 years and can’t believe that’s gone.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don’t let the cracked tables and dim lights fool you — the food here is legit. We got the sweet & pungent shrimp, walnut chicken, and two wonton soups for about $44. Portions are huge. Walnut chicken feeds 4 easy, shrimp feeds 3. I dropped a photo below of how much it gave me. Each entrée comes with white rice, crispy noodle snacks, plus Sriracha and utensils — no need to ask. Flavors were rich, crispy, sweet, and savory. They clearly put all the effort into the kitchen instead of the furniture, and that’s just fine with me.

Sad to see them go. Didn't realize its been so long since I ate from this place. Being from NYC, this was my go to above all. Thank you all and my best wishes to all the staff.

I was pleasantly surprised as a first time customer. Food was delivered piping hot, pretty close to on time, generous portions and lots of little freebies inside! I recommend the Wonton Soup, Beef Brocolli and Shrimp Fried Rice. The best part is that their food was fresh, not greasy like most Chinese takeout I’ve had before and no MSG.
